THE STORY OF JOSEPH - lesson 16
JOSEPH WAS SENT AND JESUS
AND NOW US
Joseph - the prototype of Jesus
This lesson once again delves into the indisputable fact that God set it up that Joseph of the "many colored coat" would be a paradigm, a model, a prototype of Jesus. What is fascinating is that this fact, supported again and again by scripture, would not have been understood until after Jesus was resurrected and had ascended to the Father. To see these connections between Joseph and Jesus, Jesus' life, actions, miracles, preaching, death, resurrection, and ascension need to be clearly understood first. It's as if the Lord did this for us today and for all Jewish people as well. It is as if the Lord set this up so that religious Jews non-Christians would see these connections that are God designed and inspired to help them see Jesus as the Messiah and the coming one who will sit on David's throne and bring "taykkoon olam" (תִּיקּוּן עוֹלָם - repairing the world).
So, one event in the saga of Joseph was when Joseph hid his silver cup in the sack of Benjamin. Joseph did this on purpose. He seems to be testing his brothers to see if they were truly repentant and had changed. So, in the saga of Joseph we find this famous event of the cup. Is this perhaps also a paradigm of Jesus and events in Jesus' life? Let's study and see what might be possible.
In this podcast I again mentioned I'd provide four valuable links to study the amazing connections between Joseph and Jesus. The first is a short video that is a great introduction to this topic. Here's the link ...
The second resource is an article at the excellent website "Hebrew4Christians." The article goes deeper into the connections between Joseph and Jesus providing over 60 indisputable connections solidly based upon scripture and not opinion or speculation. Here's link to the article ...

A third resource you must have access to is a scholarly paper written by my graduate studies advisor, Dr. Ron Mosely. In his paper Dr. Mosely discusses Joseph as a prototype of the the suffering Messiah just like David is a prototype of the conquering Messiah - https://www.academia.edu/3796976/Twice_Rejected_Mashiach_Ben_Joseph
The final link is to Netivyah (The Way of the Lord) ministries in Jerusalem. This is a Messianic Jewish ministry founded by Joseph Shulam, an amazing Jewish scholar who helps us reconnect to our Jewish roots of our faith. This link is to a book written by one of their resident scholars, Elhanan ben Avraham, "Moshiach ben Yosef (Messiah the Son Of Joseph)". I highly recommend you get this book and all the books you can buy from this ministry - https://netivyah.org/product/mashiach-ben-yoseph/
Another thing discussed is what is a disciple? A disciple in Jesus' day is one who follows a rabbi and wants more than anything else to be just like the rabbi; a disciple wants to live a life so that they are a reflection of their rabbi. Here's the links I promised that are the vidcasts (videos) I did on the topic of Disciples and Apostles. The video is in two parts.
Part1 - Disciples and Apostles - https://lightofmenorah.podbean./e/truth-nugget-28-lesson-2-part-1-disciples-and-apostles/
Part2 - Disciples and Apostles - https://lightofmenorah.podbean.com/e/truth-nugget-28-lesson-2-part-2-disciples-and-apostles/
Here's a link to an excellent article on what a disciple was in the 1st century by Ray Vander Laan - https://www.thattheworldmayknow.com/rabbi-and-talmidim
Ray has also done audio sessions on the concept of disciples of a rabbi in Jesus' day. I will link you to the audio library and it is easy to slide down to the studies regarding disciples. Check out the "Age of a Disciple" and the sessions entitled "Disciples Parts 1, 2, and 3" and the audio sessions "The Dust of the Rabbi." In this podcast I mentioned that Bible study is a requirement for us as true followers of Jesus. Matter of fact there is a renowned Messianic Gentile scholar, Dwight Pryor, who suggests that a church must provide Bible study and classes in order to obey Jesus to make disciples. As one studies what it really means to be a disciple of our rabbi, our Lord and Savior, our Yeshua, we find that as our "rabbi" was sent to teach so too His disciples are called to be sent by Him to teach. But, to teach means we need to learn and thus we need to do Bible study. That's for all believers in the church and just a select few.
What is interesting, for those of us focused on the Jewish roots of our faith and our Hebrew heritage, is that the study of the Bible in Jesus' day was considered the highest form of worship! Not prayer. Not speaking in tongues. Not singing and music. No. None of these. The study of God's word by the young and the old in Jesus' day was considered at the top of the list for true followers of the Lord. Below are two links to two excellent articles discussing this. The first is written by Dwight Pryor - a highly credible and well known Gentile Messianic Christian Bible scholar and the second is written by Professor WA Liebenberg, a Messianic Jewish scholar at the Hebraic Roots Teaching Institute in Pretoria South Africa. These are a must read to understand that to be true disciples of Adonai yeshua requires Bible study and not just Bible reading. Check them out at these links ...

As we studied we encountered the contradiction between Gen. 46:27 where it says 70 came to Egypt and in Acts 7:14 it says 75. I mentioned I would provide you with the text of the Septuagint for Genesis 46 to show it was changed! The rabbis changed it. Shown below is Genesis 46 of the Septuagint.

Finally I mentioned the links to study THE JEWISH RAPTURE. These are videos of my personal study of the rapture and how I found it to be already in the Hebrew Scriptures, the Old Testament. It is a totally Jewish concept and since we are "grafted in" as joint heirs with Israel it includes all of us as disciples of Adonai Yeshua. Here's the link to the videos.

THE STORY OF JOSEPH - lesson 14
BETWEEN A ROCK AND A HARD PLACE
Joseph - the prototype of Jesus
In part one of lesson 95 we studied the Word of the Lord, the way and the truth and the life, and saw that the saga of Joseph is God's Torah, His instruction not law, for Jacob and his family then, for the 1st ones to read this saga of Joseph, the Hebrews about ready to cross the Jordan and enter God's promised land then, for the talmideem of Yeshua, the disiples of Jesus then and for us NOW, today, in the 21st century as we face unbelievable troubles and dangers and difficulties. What else is there? What else does God want us to learn from the story of Joseph?
In part 2 we continue our intense Torah study in the book of Genesis. In part 2 we begin to see a reason why, perhaps, why Jesus teaches us what the two greatest commandments of the books of Moses are. We learn of the Egyptian culture and their view of themselves as superior over all other peoples of the earth. We learn this attitude of feeling better than anyone else is a common bad characteristic of all cultures over all time. But, Jesus helps us understand two fundamental laws of Torah in Lev. 19:16 and Lev. 19:34. Jesus, the Lord, our God, helps us understand who are neighbor really is. So, ready to study? Ready to see that what Jesus taught is true in John 5:39? Ready to see how God teaches us now in the 21st century from the Torah, scripture 3400 years old?
Check out the video (link below) that introduces us to this amazing connection between Joseph and Jesus. What is so awesome is God inspired Moses to write about Joseph 3400 years ago. Little did Moses know how his writing would help us today to see how God predicted His ultimate SAVIOR OF THE WORLD from the story of Joseph as the prototype. Here's the link to the video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQKadh0fVCo

THE STORY OF JOSEPH - lesson 13
BETWEEN A ROCK AND A HARD PLACE
Joseph - the prototype of Jesus
As we continue to study the saga of Joseph we see things become difficult for Jacob. He is given the choice of death by starvation or to trust Judah, his 4th born son of Leah, allow him to take Benjamin, the youngest son and only surviving son of Rachel, to Egypt and hopefully get Simon back, get food, and, most importantly, bring back Benjamin. One might say Jacob is between a rock and a hard place. In this lesson we will hear Jacob say that he falls into the hands of El Shaddai, the Almighty God.
The only Bible Jesus had and Paul was the Hebrew Scriptures (a.k.a. the Old Testament). In part 1 of lesson 95 we begin to see that this saga of Joseph and now his brothers and his dad, seems to be a way that Adonai teaches us about Himself. For many of us we know the "rest of the story" as did Jesus' talmideem (disciples) and later Paul. What this story teaches us about the Lord is so totally applicable to today. It is so totally applicable to the terrible situation Israel is in - the whole world turning against Israel and blaming them as being the terrorists and not Hamas. But, in this Torah lesson, in the saga of Joseph, we can see how Paul, a Torah scholar in hi sown right, came up with ...
And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. (Rom 8:28)
The only "Bible" Paul had was the Hebrew Scriptures. Torah, the first five books of the Bible, were the foundational books of the Bible. It seems clear to me that Paul's writings in all his letters was Torah based or based upon the teachings of his Rabbi, Messiah Yeshua, the Jesus the Christ. So, come join us as to study how this saga of Joseph was a powerful teaching (torah) from the Lord for all Israel coming out of Egypt, all Israel in Jesus' day, all Israel today, and for us.

THE STORY OF JOSEPH - lesson 12
GOD WORKS ALL THINGS TOGETHER FOR GOOD
TO BRING ABOUT HIS PURPOSES
Joseph - the prototype of Jesus
The TORAH (תּוֹרָה) - the first five books of the Bible - is often mistranslated by many as law. In Hebrew, however, we find …
The word "Torah" in Hebrew is derived from the root YERAH ירה, which in the hif'il conjugation means 'to guide' or 'to teach'. The meaning of the word is therefore "teaching", "doctrine", or "instruction"; the commonly accepted translation as "law" gives a wrong impression. (Rabinowitz, Louis; Harvey, Warren (2007). "Torah". In Berenbaum, Michael; Skolnik, Fred (eds.). Encyclopedia Judaica. Vol. 20 (2nd ed.). Detroit: Macmillan Reference. pp. 39–46)
As we continue our study of the saga of Joseph we come to Gen. 42:1-5. Jacob sons ten of his sons to Egypt to buy grain. Joseph is about to confront his brothers again after what they did to him more than a decade before. But, something is different. We begin to see God’s hand in restoring Joseph to his brothers and to his father, Jacob. We begin to see God working all things together, no matter what the circumstances, for good so as His purposes and plans are established.
But, the Lord also is telling us, teaching us, in His TORAH (תּוֹרָה) – His books of teaching and instruction – that this is a prototype of something coming, the days of the Messiah. For as Joseph is reunited with his brothers who rejected him, so too Jesus. He too will be reunified with His brothers, all of Israel. Paul got it. Paul writes that one day all Israel will be saved, all Israel will be disciples of Yeshua. So, no matter how bad things look or even if things are good, no matter. God will use all things to work together for the good, for His ultimate purposes. This is the lesson Yahvay (יהוה) our Lord is trying to get through to us in the saga of Joseph.

SABBATH SERIES - VIDEO 2 PART 1
Over the last 5 to 10 years I have noticed Christians becoming interested in the Jewish Passover Meal – the Seder. Many say they see how it connects to Jesus. Christians also see how Jesus is also related to Passover. The lambs were sacrificed on the same day the Lamb of God was sacrificed or Jesus was crucified. Matter of fact I teach a course on the feasts of the Lord found in Leviticus 23 and how they testify of Jesus. Paul teaches us this. Consider the text …
Therefore no one is to act as your judge in regard to food or drink or in respect to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath day-- things which are a mere shadow of what is to come; but the substance belongs to Christ. (Col 2:16-17)
The feasts are shadows of something. Something is casting a “shadow”over the feasts. What? Who? Jesus of course. He is the substance of the shadow or that which makes up the shadow.
But, as we have seen in Video 1 parts 1 and 2 the greatest of all the Lord’s feasts, actually, appointed times set by Him, is the Sabbath, or in Hebrew, שַׁבָּת Shabbat. See below. Here’s the links to Video 1 parts 1 and 2.
Video 1 part 1 – https://www.podbean.com/media/share/pb-yk53v-11f50a7
Video 2 part 2 – https://www.podbean.com/media/share/pb-u84gj-11f5248
God has created an appointed time called the Sabbath on the 7th day of each week. It is a holy TIME; it is 24 hours long and not about just going to church. During this set aside time, or holy time, the Lord commands us to have a special separate meeting during this 24 hour holy time as in Leviticus 23:3. The Jews do a synagogue service and from this the “church” followed suit and did a church service.
But Jesus said …
“You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me.” (Joh 5:39)
Jesus said this between 24-30 A.D. and all they had was the Hebrew Scriptures – a.k.a. the Old Testament. So, the Sabbath must be a SHADOW of things to come. And the Sabbath MUST testify of Jesus. But how? It is easy to “see” Jesus in Passover. It is easy to see how the Jewish Seder relates to Jesus. But שַׁבָּת Shabbat? How? How is Jesus connected to this special, set aside, or holy 24 hour period? Let’s go study this in Video 2 parts 1 and 2 and 3. So, ready? Come let’s go.
